The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) was set up in 1985 as a parastatal meant to foster the understanding and practice of arts as well as the exhibition of such activities. It is also a cultural institution, a mainstay of arts development and it works in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Sports, Arts and Culture though it has long been demanding to have a ministry which specifically deals with the cultural spectrum.
